Peruvian coffee and cacao represent far more than raw materials: they reflect diverse territories, agricultural expertise, and families committed to preserving each origin's richness and uniqueness.

Exportadora Romex connects this potential to global opportunities by integrating the sourcing, processing, commercialisation and export of coffee, cacao and value-added products.

Its experience across both sectors enables the company to develop consistent solutions tailored to the demands of markets in Europe, Asia and North America, combining local knowledge, industrial capabilities and a long-term vision.

> “Peruvian cacao has an extraordinary opportunity in an industry increasingly seeking not only quality products, but also the experience of origin, sustainability, and traceability. At Romex, we work to connect these opportunities with our customers and producers, building a value chain capable of generating impact from the field to the final consumer,” says José San Martín, General Manager of Exportadora Romex.

### Origin as a Competitive Advantage

Peru stands out for its diverse cacao. Regions such as San Martín, Ayacucho and Quillabamba offer distinctive flavour profiles that help the company meet industry requirements and growing demand for products with identity, quality and sustainability attributes.

In San Martín, more than 530 cacao-growing families operate under Rainforest Alliance and organic production schemes. They receive technical assistance, training and guidance in good agricultural practices. At the same time, Romex is expanding its territorial mapping efforts in Ayacucho and Quillabamba, strengthening the visibility of these origins and creating new opportunities to access international markets.

This work is part of an integrated sustainability strategy that includes agroforestry systems; planting more than 23,000 trees; support for communities and research centres; and educational development initiatives that have benefited more than 110 students.

### A Supply Chain Built for the Future

Traceability has become a critical consideration for the food industry. Through an integrated framework linking farms, purchases, lots, contracts and sales, Romex strengthens transparency and control throughout its supply chain.

Its network of 16 collection centres keeps the company close to Peru’s main producing regions. This is complemented by mapping more than 19,000 cacao plots, helping the company identify farms and assess risks related to deforestation, legality, and documentary consistency in preparation for the requirements of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
