Pantone, the global colour authority, has designated Mocha Mousse the official 2025 colour of the year.
PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse is a warm, rich brown hue that evokes the comforting essence of chocolate and coffee. It reflects a cultural shift towards embracing simple pleasures and seeking harmony in everyday life.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, described Mocha Mousse as expressing “a level of thoughtful indulgence … being sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic.”
To understand how this lush brown hue will impact new patisserie and confectionery launches, it’s worth looking back at how Peach Fuzz – the warm, peachy hue of 2024 – made waves across the pastry world.
According to the ingredients supplier Puratos, Peach Fuzz was seized on by confectioners, making waves across the pastry world. From pastel pastries to peach-inspired flavours, the influence of colour on consumer appetites was undeniable.
And food producers jumped on the peachy new trend, coming up with dairy products, candies, sweet bakery snacks , and treats that incorporate the tangy stone fruit.
Mocha Mousse will arouse similar interests with pastry chefs and chocolatiers by suggesting the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate, and coffee, appealing to consumers’ desire for comfort.
With the chocolate and baking industry, expect Mocha Mousse in apparel and fashion accessories, hair and beauty products, home décor, and interior design.
